Fort Rajmachi is a very popular destination for trekkers in Pune and Mumbai areas. Rajmachi is a historical fort built to keep a close watch on Borghat (the road from Khopoli to Lonavla), which was an ancient trade route.
Fort Rajmachi is surrounded by high hills and deep vallies, full of evergreen forests. Fort Rajmachi is beautiful throghout the year, but it is at its Top Form in September.
Rajmachi Rural Aid and Development Programme, a non-profit NGO, is working since the year 1976, for development of the small hamlet Udhewadi on the plateau of Rajmachi. This NGO wants to promote Fort Rajmachi as a centre for eco-tourism and adventure-tourism. The NGO has developed a Camping Site at Rajmachi for the benefit of trekkers.
