Approx Distance: 44 KM

Path : Pune -> Katraj Tunnel -> Pune-Satara Highway -> Take right turn towards Baneshwar/Nasarapur -> Rajgad Fort

Rajgad fort is one of the most grand forts of the Sahaydris. It was Shivaji Maharaj's capital for 26 years. Rajgad is tristar shape with each ends having the grand machis and the bale killa or citadel at the center. The diameter of the fort at the base is 40 Kms and hence difficult to capture.

2. Pali darwaja
3. Gunjavane darwaja
4. Padmavati Machi
5. Padmavati Temple
6. Padmavati Lake and other several lakes.
7. Daru Kothar

i read your blog regarding rajgad fort this is very intresting.

we are also intrested for go for traking to rajgad fort can u advise me following question??

1. Can we stay there one night?
2. How much time it should be taken to reach at padmawati machi?
3. There is availabity of food?
4. Which route we will prefer for reach at Rajgad fort ???

Good snaps .We are going there tomoro.I had been there 36 years back when I was in 9th standard.The pictures seem to be the same although we had a black and white film camera ,the pics have been lost.Interestingly we had met historian Late Go.Ni.Dandekar there doing research.He was amazed to know that we came all the way from Mumbai at a young age.He showed us some coins which he had excavated from the fort.
We stayed for 2 days at the temple cookng our own food.
